...Grand Rapids Weather Radar Out of Service for Upgrades for
5 Days Starting Monday...

Beginning Monday, April 16th, 2018, the WSR-88D Weather Radar
operated by the NOAA National Weather Service Forecast Office
in Grand Rapids, Michigan will be down for approximately five
days for the refurbishment of the transmitter.

This transmitter update is the second major project of the
NEXRAD WSR-88D Service Life Extension Program, a series of
upgrades and replacements that will keep our nations radars
viable into the 2030s.

During the downtime, adjacent radars that can be used as a
resource for information include: Detroit, Northern Indiana,
Gaylord, Green Bay and Milwaukee. For direct access to any of
