...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL AFFECT SOUTHEASTERN JONES...
SOUTHEASTERN CRAVEN...EAST CENTRAL ONSLOW AND SOUTHWESTERN CARTERET
COUNTIES...

At 600 PM EDT, a strong thunderstorm was located near Peletier, or 9
miles west of Newport, moving east at 30 mph.

Wind gusts up to 50 mph and pea size hail are possible with this
storm.

Locations impacted include...
Havelock, Morehead City, Newport, Stella, Swansboro, Pine Knoll
Shores, Harlowe, Broad Creek, Wildwood, Kuhns, Peletier, Bogue, North
Harlowe, Oceana Pier, Fort Macon State Park, Mitchell Village and
Crab Point Village.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm, and may cause
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
