March 4th through 10th is Severe Weather Preparedness Week in the
Carolinas. Families, individuals, and businesses are encouraged
to use this time to develop or review their action plan for
responding to the threat of severe thunderstorms, tornadoes, and
flooding. In support of this effort, the National Weather Service,
in conjunction with state Emergency Management Agencies will be
conducting the state tornado drills on Wednesday, March 7th. In
South Carolina, the drill will be initiated at 9:00 am via
issuance of a TEST Tornado Warning from the National Weather
Service. North Carolina`s drill will be initiated at 9:30 am via a
Routine Monthly Test of the Emergency Alert System. In the event
of inclement weather on the 7th, the drill may be postponed to
Friday, March 9th at 9:00 am for South Carolina and 9:30 am for
North Carolina.
