The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
  Southwestern Buncombe County in western North Carolina...

* Until 630 AM EDT.

* At 552 AM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 12 miles west of
  Downtown Asheville, or 5 miles southwest of Leicester, moving east
  at 30 mph.

  HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Minor hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind
           damage to trees and power lines.

* Locations impacted include...
  Asheville, Woodfin, Swannanoa, Biltmore Forest, Bent Creek, a
  portion of the Blue Ridge Parkway from the Nc Arboretum To East
  Asheville, and Skyland.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

Large hail and damaging winds and continuous cloud to ground
lightning is occurring with this storm. Move indoors immediately.
Lightning is one of nature`s leading killers. Remember, if you can
hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning.
