...Increased stream flows from higher terrain and minor overland
flooding possible Thursday and Friday...

A large and wet storm system will impact northern and central
Nevada today through Friday. Significant valley rains, mountain
snows, and mild south winds will contribute to snowmelt and runoff
from higher terrain.

Valley rain and mountain snow showers will overspread northern
Nevada today with more significant valley rains and higher
elevation mountain snows occurring across much of the region
Thursday into Friday morning. Rainfall amounts of over an inch are

Minor overland flooding is possible from expected rainfall,
saturated soils from recent snowmelt, and the possibility of rapid
snowmelt from the mid-slopes of mountain ranges. However,
significant flooding is NOT expected at this time, but secondary
dirt roads could see minor flooding and become muddy and
impassable. Also, any streams exiting higher terrain could
experience increased cold and swift flows. Use caution and plan
accordingly if traveling on rural roads or venturing into the
