...A WARM AND SLIGHTLY DRY SEPTEMBER IN THE SOUTH BEND AREA...

OVERALL IT WAS A RELATIVELY UNEVENTFUL START TO THE FALL SEASON. THE
MONTHLY AVERAGE TEMPERATURE WAS OVER 3 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL WHILE
MONTHLY PRECIPITATION WAS AROUND ONE HALF INCH BELOW NORMAL IN THE
SOUTH BEND AREA FOR SEPTEMBER. HIGH TEMPERATURES REACHED 90 DEGREES
ON 3 DAYS AND LOW TEMPERATURES DROPPED BELOW 40 DEGREES ON ONE DAY,
THE 29TH. SEVERE WEATHER IN THE FORM OF ISOLATED DAMAGING WINDS DID
OCCUR ACROSS THE REGION ON A FEW DAYS IN SEPTEMBER BUT THERE WAS NO
WIDESPREAD SEVERE WEATHER.

THE AVERAGE MONTHLY TEMPERATURE WAS 67.1 DEGREES, 3.2 DEGREES ABOVE
NORMAL. THIS RANKED AS THE 25TH WARMEST SEPTEMBER ON RECORD. TOTAL
MONTHLY PRECIPITATION WAS 2.95 INCHES, 0.58 INCHES BELOW NORMAL.
THIS WAS THE 57TH DRIEST SEPTEMBER ON RECORD. THERE WAS NO SNOWFALL.
