...NWS DAMAGE SURVEY FOR VAN WERT COUNTY THUNDERSTORM WIND
EVENT...

A thunderstorm moved from northeast Indiana towards Van Wert
County Ohio and reached Venedocia, Ohio around 8:40 pm on
Wednesday August 14, 2019. Straight line thunderstorm winds were
then able to damage a wide area of crops within a field located
near the intersection of Mendon Rd and State Route 709 in York
Township based on aerial drone images obtained via Van Wert County
EMA. Based on the damage sustained to the crop field, it was
estimated that 65 mph winds caused the damage.

The National Weather Service in Northern Indiana wishes to thank
Van Wert EMA for their valuable drone footage, which was used to
determine the details within this survey.

NOTE:
The information in this statement is PRELIMINARY and subject to
change pending final review of the event and publication in NWS
