...BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH MONDAY
MORNING...

* WHAT...Life-threatening waves and currents are expected this
morning through early Monday. Waves will increase rapidly to 4
to 7 feet this morning and then diminish tonight. Strong rip,
structural, and longshore currents are expected. Piers will be
heavily swamped by waves at times today and tonight.

* WHERE...In Indiana, La Porte county. In Michigan, Berrien
  county.

* WHEN...From today through Monday morning.

* IMPACTS...Strong currents can pull swimmers into deeper water
and high waves can sweep people off piers.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Beaches included in this statement are
Silver Beach and Washington Park Beach. Wave periods of 6 to 8
seconds are expected during this time. These long periods will
make entry into the waters more dangerous.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Remain out of the water to avoid hazardous swimming conditions.
Do not venture out on piers.
