.THE 2018-2019 WINTER SEASON WAS COLDER THAN NORMAL WITH ABOVE
NORMAL PRECIPITATION AT BRAINERD MN...

THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE FOR THE WINTER SEASON WAS 11.1 DEGREES WHICH
WAS 3.2 DEGREES BELOW THE NORMAL OF 14.3 DEGREES. THE HIGHEST
TEMPERATURE FOR THE WINTER WAS 48 DEGREES ON DECEMBER 15TH. THE
LOWEST TEMPERATURE FOR THE WINTER WAS 43 DEGREES BELOW ZERO ON
JANUARY 31ST. NO MONTHLY TEMPERATURE RECORDS WERE BROKEN THIS WINTER.

THE WINTER OF 2018-2019 WAS ABOVE NORMAL FOR PRECIPITATION WITH A
TOTAL 3.31 INCHES RECORDED FOR THE SEASON. THIS WAS 1.06 INCHES
ABOVE THE NORMAL OF 2.25 INCHES...MAKING THIS THE 9TH WETTEST WINTER
IN STATION HISTORY. THE GREATEST DAILY PRECIPITATION OCCURRED ON
DECEMBER 27TH WHEN 0.71 INCHES WAS RECORDED. AT LEAST 0.01 INCHES OF
PRECIPITATION FELL ON 22 DAYS. AT LEAST 0.10 INCHES FELL ON 12 DAYS.
AT LEAST 0.50 INCHES FELL ON 1 DAY. NO MONTHLY PRECIPITATION RECORDS
WERE BROKEN THIS WINTER...HOWEVER FEBRUARY WAS THE 7TH WETTEST IN
STATION HISTORY WITH A TOTAL OF 1.54 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION. THE
NORMAL PRECIPITATION FOR FEBRUARY IS 0.67 INCHES.

THE WINTER OF 2018-2019 WAS ABOVE NORMAL FOR SNOWFALL WITH A TOTAL
OF 48.6 INCHES RECORDED FOR THE SEASON. THIS WAS 22.4 INCHES ABOVE
THE NORMAL OF 26.2 INCHES...MAKING THIS THIS 3RD SNOWIEST WINTER IN
STATION HISTORY. THE GREATEST DAILY SNOWFALL OCCURRED ON DECEMBER
27TH WHEN 8.6 INCHES OF SNOW WAS RECORDED. NO MONTHLY SNOWFALL
RECORDS WERE BROKEN FOR THE WINTER...HOWEVER FEBRUARY WAS THE 2ND
SNOWIEST IN STATION HISTORY WITH A TOTAL OF 22.3 INCHES OF SNOW. THE
NORMAL SNOWFALL FOR FEBRUARY IS 6.9 INCHES.

THE AVERAGE WIND SPEED FOR THE WINTER WAS 7.1 MPH. THE HIGHEST
SUSTAINED WIND OCCURRED ON JANUARY 8TH WITH A SPEED OF 32 MPH OUT OF
THE WEST NORTHWEST. THE HIGHEST PEAK WIND GUST OCCURRED ON JANUARY
8TH WITH A WIND FROM THE WEST AT 46 MPH.

THERE WERE 4817 HEATING DEGREE DAYS FOR THE WINTER WHICH WAS 254
ABOVE THE NORMAL OF 4563. THERE WERE 0 COOLING DEGREE DAYS FOR THE
WINTER WHICH WAS NORMAL.

THE OUTLOOK FOR SPRING...NORMAL HIGHS START IN THE LOW 30S IN
EARLY MARCH AND WARM TO THE LOW 70S BY THE END OF MAY. NORMAL LOWS
START IN THE SINGLE DIGITS ABOVE ZERO IN EARLY MARCH AND WARM TO
THE UPPER 40S BY THE END OF MAY. NORMAL PRECIPITATION FOR THE SPRING
IS 7.24 INCHES. NORMAL SNOWFALL FOR THE SPRING IS 11.8 INCHES. THE
LATEST CLIMATE PREDICTION CENTER OUTLOOK INDICATES THAT THERE IS NO
CLEAR SIGNAL FOR ABOVE OR BELOW NORMAL TEMPERATURES OR PRECIPITATION
