WXK-80, the NOAA Weather Radio station that covers the greater
Lafayette Louisiana area and lower Acadiana, is off the air due to
a telephone line issue. There is a high probability that this NOAA
Weather Radio station will not be repaired in time for the
potential for severe weather on Saturday afternoon and evening.
Therefore, the SAME and Tone Alert for severe weather hazards will
be unable to be sent, and thus, will not activate NOAA Weather

Residents in this area are urged to find alternative means for
receiving National Weather Service severe weather hazard warnings.
This may include the following: Trusted local radio and
television broadcasts and weather smart phone apps. Receiving
government alerts on your smart phone by going into notifications
and toggling ON emergency and public safety alerts. Subscribing to
NWS Lake Charles twitter feed where all severe weather hazard
warnings issued from the National Weather Service office in Lake
Charles will automatically show up.
