...GALE FORCE NORTHEAST WINDS AND STEEP CHOPPY SEAS ARE LIKELY
ACROSS THE INNER WATERS THIS MORNING WITH IMPACTS LIKELY ACROSS
AVALON HARBOR...

Gusty northeast winds are expected this morning from Ventura to
Santa Monica and out to Anacapa and Santa Cruz Islands, and also
south of Palos Verdes out to Catalina Island. The strongest winds
are expected from Point Mugu to Santa Monica and south of Palos
Verdes, where winds are expected to reach 20 to 25 knots with
gusts to 35 knots at times late tonight and Sunday morning. Winds
will diminish quickly Sunday afternoon.

These winds will create rough and steep wind waves of 3 to 5 feet.
The winds and waves will likely affect the unprotected front side
of Catalina Island, and produce dangerous conditions on northeast
facing harbor entrances including Avalon and Two Harbors.

These conditions have a history of vessel damage and loss of life.
Mariners should avoid these areas, or remain in safe harbor until
conditions improve. Avalon harbor should NOT be considered safe
harbor during this event.
