Fire Weather Planning Forecast for West Texas/Southeast New Mexico
National Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX
305 AM CDT Fri May 17 2024

.DISCUSSION...

A warming and drying trend sets in this weekend and into next week,
with temperatures reaching the 100s by Sunday. Humidity will fall
below 10 percent most days with poor overnight recoveries, but
moderate 20ft winds should limit fire weather concerns somewhat.
Fuels are dry out west, and should continue drying in the coming
days with humidity as low as 4 percent. Fire concerns may start to
tick back up early next week for Southeast New Mexico and far West
Texas with critically dry fuels across the west and ERCs approaching
the 90th+ percentile.
