...The Wisconsin Statewide Tornado Drill is ON for today...

While there will be cloudy and some foggy conditions today in the
northern half of the state and a chance for rain showers this
evening in the southern half of the state, no severe thunderstorms
are expected. Therefore, the Wisconsin Tornado Drill Commitee have
decided that the statewide tornado drill is officially on for today.

If severe weather was possible in the afternoon or evening, the test
would have postponed to the following day. However, there is no
chance for severe weather today into the early evening hours, so the
test will proceed as planned.

As a reminder, there will be a test Tornado Watch issued at 1pm and
then a test Tornado Warning issued at 145pm which both will end at
2pm. There will then be an evening test Tornado Warning which will
be sent at 645pm and end at 7pm. There will not be a test Tornado
Watch issued with the evening test.

Cell phone apps and Wireless Emergency Alerts will not activate
during this test. All-hazards NOAA Weather Radio will be activated
along with many local outdoor warning sirens which are run by city
and county governments. The Emergency Alert System on TV and radio
will also be activated.

Despite the recent cold weather, Wisconsin typically starts to see
an increase in severe weather starting in April, which is why we
talk about developing plans and designating what your shelter is at
home, work and school. Take some time today to talk to your family
and friends about what you would do in a real Tornado Warning.
