Drought Information Statement
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE Milwaukee/Sullivan WI
124 PM CDT Thu Apr 28 2022

...DROUGHT IMPROVES ACROSS MUCH OF SOUTHERN WISCONSIN...

.SYNOPSIS:

The April 28th drought monitor indicates Abnormally Dry across
all of southern Wisconsin with Sheboygan no longer having a
drought of any kind. Conditions improved again across much of the
region with a very wet last month mostly relieving the drought
across southern Wisconsin.

.PRECIPITATION:

Precipitation over the last week was 0.5 to 2+ inches across
southern Wisconsin. The lower amounts were in the northern parts
of southern Wisconsin wither amounts to the south. Over the past
30 days, 2.5 to 5+ inches of precipitation fell. This is mostly
1-2 inches above average. Long term deficits have started to be
replenished though there are still some minor deficits across the
area but potential impacts have been significantly declining over
the last couple months.

.HYDROLOGIC CONDITIONS:

Streamflow averaged over the past 7 days is in the average and
above average categories. Streamflow averaged over the past 28
days is now in the average to above average categories.

.SUMMARY OF IMPACTS:

Soil moisture continues improving slowly with the recent rainfall
and the area with the greatest deficit has been shrinking. Soil
moisture ranks in the 10-30th percentile for most of southern
Wisconsin.

.DROUGHT MITIGATION ACTIONS: None reported.

.LOCAL DROUGHT OUTLOOK:

1 to 2 inches of precipitation is expected over the next week.
Very little signal over the next few months for precipitation
though the 8-14 day period does appear a bit drier.

.NEXT ISSUANCE DATE:

The next outlook will not be issued until May 26th, with
abnormally dry (D0) conditions across southern WI, unless a more
severe drought category returns.
