Regional Weather Summary
National Weather Service State College PA
539 AM EDT Fri May 17 2024

Cloud cover blanketed all of the Commonwealth this morning with
temperatures in the mid to upper 50s in most locations and a
light east to southeast wind.

It will stay cloudy but dry through most or all of this Friday
morning across the Western Mountains of the state before showers
spread in from the west around or shortly after noon. The onset
of rain should hold off until the mid to late afternoon hours
today across the Central Mountains and perhaps this evening over
the Susquehanna Valley and points east.

High temperatures today will range from the upper 60s across the
higher elevations of Central Pennsylvania to the mid and upper
70s across the Southwest.

Showers or even a few periods of steadier rain, and perhaps a few
rumbles of thunder over the west, will continue tonight into
Saturday followed by improving conditions from north to south on
Sunday. Lows tonight will be in the mid 50s to low 60s.

24-hour rainfall amounts later today through Saturday will range
from 1 to 1.25 inches across the Western third of the state
(with some higher point amounts possible) to as little as a tenth
of an inch across the far east.

The unsettled pattern will continue into the weekend with showers
and some afternoon/evening thunderstorms, with drier conditions
expected on Monday.
