Strong, gusty northwest winds will persist in the Mojave Desert Slopes beginning late this afternoon through late Tuesday night. 2. A warming trend is expected through Sunday. 3. By Sunday afternoon, high temperatures throughout Central California will be around ten degrees above normal for this time of year. 4. Dry weather will persist for the next several days. && .DISCUSSION... We currently have a trough sitting off the coast of California with a strong trough over Utah and Colorado. This current setup is favoring a northwesterly flow leading to increased wind speeds over the Mojave Desert Slopes because of a downslope effect leading to a Wind Advisory from later this afternoon to late tomorrow night. The trough currently over Utah and Colorado is amplifying and is responsible for the severe weather happening across the Plains this evening through late night. Coming back out west to California, latest model ensembles are in strong agreement of a ridge moving over the Pacific coast and is strengthening. This strengthening ridge will keep conditions dry for the San Joaquin Valley and will lead to a major warming trend through the week until Sunday. The ridge will weaken a bit late Sunday into next Monday. The probabilities for high temperatures of at least 90 degrees take a major hike on Thursday with a 20 to 40 percent chance for most of the Valley with the exception of Bakersfield at 51 percent and Reedley at 2 percent. Probabilities increase on Friday to the 40 to 70 percent range for the Valley and will persist in the range for Saturday and Sunday. The probabilities take a dip for next Monday but will remain high at 30 to 55 percent probabilities of a high temperature of at least 90 degrees. Here are probabilities of maximum temperatures of 90 degrees or higher for select locations in the San Joaquin Valley on Saturday, May 11th, 2024: Fresno - 66% Bakersfield - 66% Visalia - 66% Hanford - 61% Lemoore - 66% Delano - 66% Madera - 61% Porterville - 61% Merced - 56% Reedley - 56% && .AVIATION...
