FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR UPPER MICHIGAN
National Weather Service Marquette MI
525 AM EDT Mon Jul 22 2019

...ELEVATED FIRE WEATHER CONCERNS TODAY ACROSS MUCH OF UPPER
MICHIGAN..

.DISCUSSION: Plenty of dry air is working into the region today,
and will remain in place through a good portion of the week. Deep
mixing is expected to develop today, allowing for gusty northwest
winds and dry air aloft to mix down. Sustained winds look to
remain below critical thresholds today, but with RHs flirting with
the upper 20 to lower 30% range, and warm conditions inland from
Lake Superior, elevated fire weather conditions are expected to
develop this afternoon. Concerns are greatest over locations that
have not seen significant rainfall over the last week or so.

As we look ahead through the week, dry conditions will prevail
with RHs between 30 and 40% inland from the Great Lakes. We could
see another day or two with elevated fire weather concerns,
especially if conditions dry out more then currently forecast. As
we get towards Thursday and Friday, RHs will need to be closely
monitored as warm and windy conditions look to develop ahead of
an approaching cold front.
