...Snow accumulations and slippery roads in Southwest Virginia and
Northeast Tennessee Mountains...

Snow accumulations of 1 to 2 inches can be expected through the
early afternoon across much of Wise, Russell, and Washington
counties in Virginia, as well as some of the higher elevations of
Johnson and Carter counties in Tennessee. Some isolated locations
may see up to 3 inches. The snow is expected to gradually
transition to and mix with rain as warmer temperatures move into
the area.

Because of recent warm surface temperatures, most snow
accumulation is expected to remain on grassy and elevated surfaces
with the exception of the highest elevations. Any snow that
accumulates is expected to melt this afternoon as warmer air
arrives and snow changes to rain.

If traveling, motorists should be cautious on bridges and
overpasses where slippery spots develop first, and be prepared for
limited visibilities at times.
