The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Bernalillo County in central New Mexico...

* Until 1015 PM MDT.

* At 821 PM MDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
  thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between
  0.25 and 0.5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall
  amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are possible in the warned area. Flash
  flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

  HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms
           producing flash flooding.

  SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges.

  IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
           urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Albuquerque, southwestern Rio Rancho, Corrales, Los Ranchos De
  Albuquerque, South Valley, North Valley, Paradise Hills, Sandia
  Heights, Alameda and Carnuel.

This includes the following highways...
Interstate 40 between Mile Markers 143 and 171.
Interstate 25 between Mile Markers 211 and 235.

Dangerous flows through arroyos throughout Albuquerque will be
present, especially east of the Rio Grande River to the foothills of
the Sandia/Manzano Mountains. Get out of arroyos now!!

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Arroyos, streams, and normally dry rivers can become raging killer
currents in a matter of minutes. Water in arroyos can travel many
miles and take hours to reach your location from upstream rain areas.
