The National Weather Service in the Quad Cities has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Johnson County in east central Iowa...
  Southern Benton County in east central Iowa...
  Linn County in east central Iowa...
  Iowa County in east central Iowa...

* Until 1230 PM CDT Tuesday.

* At 625 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated strong thunderstorms
  producing heavy rainfall across the warned area. Up to two inches
  of rain have already fallen, with additional heavy rainfall
  expected over the next two to three hours. Expect flooding of
  creeks, streams and urban areas to begin shortly!

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
  Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, Vinton, Marengo, West Branch, Marion,
  Coralville, North Liberty, Hiawatha, Mount Vernon, Robins,
  Williamsburg, Belle Plaine, Center Point, Lisbon, Fairfax, Solon,
  Tiffin, Ely and Atkins.

This includes the following highways...
 Interstate 80 in Iowa between mile markers 205 and 253.
 Interstate 380 between mile markers 1 and 35.


Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you
can do so safely.

A Flash Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring.
If you are in the warned area move to higher ground immediately.
Residents living along streams and creeks should take immediate
precautions to protect life and property.
