000 FXUS65 KFGZ 050358 AFDFGZ Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Flagstaff AZ 858 PM MST Thu Mar 4 2021 .SYNOPSIS...Daytime temperatures will warm to above normal values Friday through Monday. Expect breezy winds each afternoon. Chances of precipitation return the middle of next week. && .DISCUSSION...The forecast remains on track for Friday and the weekend. Mostly clear skies and light winds overnight will allow for cool early morning temperatures. Temperatures are expected to climb rapidly during the day as an upper-level ridge builds over the area Friday. && .PREV DISCUSSION /226 PM MST/...There are a few lingering rain and snow showers across eastern Arizona, but these will diminish over the next couple hours. The remainder of the area is seeing partly cloudy skies and west to northwest winds at around 10-20 mph. For tonight, expect winds to gradually shift to the northeast and become light in most areas. A ridge of high pressure will develop on Friday bringing a quick return to above normal temperatures. These warm temperatures are expected to continue through Monday. A dry shortwave trough will pass near the area on Saturday bringing breezy southwest winds. Breezy conditions are likely to continue each afternoon into early next week. From Tuesday onward, ensemble guidance continues to point towards the development of a longwave trough over the eastern Pacific and western United States which will promote cooler weather and chances for precipitation. A series of shortwaves will likely rotate through this stronger trough, but confidence in the details on timing and precipitation associated with each is low at this time. && .AVIATION...For the 06Z package...VFR conditions will prevail for the next 24 hours.
