...Temperatures were well below normal for North Platte and Valentine
in February...while precipitation was well above normal for North Platte
and Valentine...
For North Platte, the average daily mean temperature for the month
of February was 17.3 degrees which was 11.7 degrees below the normal of
29.0 degrees. February 2021 will go down as the sixth coldest
February on record for North Platte. The average daily high
temperature for the month of February was 30.0 degrees which was
13.0 degrees below the normal of 43.0 degrees. The average daily
low temperature for February was 4.6 degrees which was 10.4 degrees
below the normal of 15.0 degrees. A total of five daily temperature records
were set during the month of February and are listed below.

For Valentine, the average daily mean temperature for the month of
February was 17.4 degrees which was 9.8 degrees below the normal of
27.2 degrees. The average daily high temperature for
February was 28.8 degrees which was 11.2 degrees below the normal
of 40.0 degrees. The average daily low temperature for the month
was 6.0 degrees which was 8.4 degrees below the normal of
14.4 degrees. One daily record temperature was set during the month
of February in Valentine. On the 15th, the low in Valentine was -33
degrees. This broke the record of -28 degrees set previously in 2007.
At Lee Bird Field in North Platte, precipitation for February totaled
1.43 inches which was 0.93 inches above the normal of 0.50 inches.
February 2021 will go down as the 6th wettest February on record for
North Platte. One daily precipitation record was set during the month
of February in North Platte. On the 6th, 0.59 inches of precipitation
was recorded at Lee Bird Field. This broke the record of 0.26 inches
set previously in 1921. A total of 18.7 inches of snow fell at Lee Bird
Field in February. This was 13.4 inches above the normal of 5.3 inches.
February 2021 will go down as the 2nd snowiest February on record for
North Platte. One daily snowfall record was set during the month of
February. On the 6th 8.5 inches of snow fell breaking the record of 3.9
inches set previously in 1997.
At Miller field in Valentine, precipitation for February totaled 0.73
inches which was 0.25 inches above the normal of 0.48 inches. No daily
precipitation records were set during the month of February for Valentine.
A total of 9.1 inches of snow fell at Miller Field in February. This was
3.5 inches above the normal of 5.6 inches. No daily snowfall records
were set during the month of February for Valentine.
