.SYNOPSIS...Active upper pattern brings generally low
probabilities for rain showers and thunderstorms at times to
northern Nevada with breezy afternoon winds across the forecast
area thru most of the week.

.SHORT TERM...Today through Monday Night

Generally fair weather expected today under partly cloudy skies
with westerly breezes also in place this afternoon. Gusts will be
around 20 mph. Daytime high temperatures reside in the mid 50s to
mid 60s with overnight lows mostly in the 30s.

Weather becomes a bit unsettled Monday as a strong cold front
moving thru the PacNW skirts northern NEvada. Main effects will be
gusty west/northwest winds with gusts 30 to 40 mph expected
across northern NEvada. Gusts across central Nevada range between
25 and 35 mph. Light valley rain showers and thunderstorms along
with mountain snow are also expected Monday afternoon in and near
Northern Elko County. Snow levels look to be around 6500 to 7000
feet. Accumulations will be light with valley rain totals less
than 0.10" and mountain snow totals around an inch or less.
Showers and winds dissipate thru the evening. Daytime high
temperatures will be in the 50s across northern Nevada and 60s
across central Nevada. Overnight lows range in the low 20s to low
30s.

.LONG TERM...Tuesday through next Saturday.

A series of shortwaves will move through the western U.S. early
to mid week. On Tuesday, isobaric packing across northern Nevada
will result in breezy to windy conditions. West to Northwesterly
winds 15-20 mph with gusts of 25-30 mph look likely during the
afternoon. AN isolated snow shower or two may occur in the
Jarbidge area in northern Elko county, with little to no
accumulations expected. Highs Tuesday are forecasted in the upper
50s to lower 60s, with lows in the upper 20s to low 30s.

Wednesday a positively tilted trough deepens over southern Idaho,
and northern Nevada. Slightly cooler air moves into the are due
to the troughs location. Highs are forecasted in the upper 40s to
lower 50s across northern Elko county, and mid to upper 50s
elsewhere. Lows are forecasted om the mid to upper 20s. Some
isolated to scattered snow showers will be possible across
northern Elko county again Wednesday. Some instability may
produce some thundersnow in the same areas during the afternoon.

Thursday through Saturday a weak ridge is modeled to grace the
state providing warming temperatures each day. By Saturday highs
are forecasted to range in the mid 70s. Overnight lows will also
warm, into the 30s and low 40s. The ensembles are having some
notable spread by day 7-8.

.AVIATION...VFR conditions expected at all terminals over the
next 24 hours. Partly to mostly cloudy skies today with relatively
light winds of 5-10kts.

.HYDROLOGY...Elevated flows continue across many streams, creeks,
and rivers throughout northern and central Nevada due to snow
melt and recent rainfall. Cooler temperatures are expected the
next few days, including freezing temperatures at night at higher
elevations, which will likely slow high elevation snow melt.
There will be opportunities for light rain and higher elevation
snow showers across northern Nevada through the first half of the
week but hydrologic impact should be minimal as wetting rains are
not expected.

The Bruneau River is currently in action stage and will likely remain
in action stage for the next several days.

The Humboldt River at Battle Mountain is currently in minor flood
stage and is forecast to gradually rise in the coming days,
remaining in minor flood stage.

The Humboldt River at Comus is currently in minor flood stage and
is forecast to gradually rise in the coming days, remaining in
minor flood stage.

The Owyhee River near Wildhorse is currently in action stage and is
forecast to gradually fall over the next several days, remaining
in action stage.

The Owyhee River near Mountain City is currently in minor flood
stage. The river is forecast to gradually fall below minor flood
stage late this week.

Wildhorse Dam is expected to slowly fall over the next several
days, remaining in action stage.

The Mary`s River near Deeth is currently in action stage and is
forecast to slowly recede over the next several days.
