...ALLEGHENY MOUNTAINS GROWING SEASON BEGINS MAY 1...

The 2026 Growing Season will be declared active on May 1 for all
of the Allegheny Mountains. That means NWS Baltimore/Washington
will begin issuing Frost and Freeze products for those areas.

This includes the following counties:
- In Maryland: Garrett and Allegany
- In West Virginia: Grant, Mineral, Hampshire, Hardy, Pendleton
- In Virginia: Highland

The growing season is already active for the rest of the forecast
area from Interstate 81 east.
