Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Eastern North Carolina
National Weather Service Newport/Morehead City NC
247 AM EDT Wed May 20 2026

.DISCUSSION...
A typical summertime pattern will remain in place through
Thursday afternoon, with a daily seabreeze and associated bump up in
winds behind it. The seabreeze is expected to remain mostly
dry through today, with a chance of showers Thursday. Looking ahead,
an increased risk of showers and thunderstorms is expected Thursday
afternoon into the weekend as a frontal boundary settles south into
the area. Winds will be variable as the frontal boundary wobbles
over the area Friday before becoming predominantly southerly again
on Saturday through next week.

Overall fire weather concern remains LOW.
