...BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT IN EFFECT FROM 8 AM EDT THIS MORNING
THROUGH LATE TONIGHT...

* WHAT...Breezy Southeast winds will produce a strong northward
  flowing longshore current.

* WHERE...Volusia, Brevard, Indian River, St. Lucie and Martin
  Counties.

* WHEN...From 8 AM EDT this morning through late tonight.

* IMPACTS...The longshore current can knock swimmers off the
  sandbar into deeper water and make them more susceptible to
  dangerous rip currents.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and
float. Don`t swim against the current. If able, swim in a
direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the
shore and call or wave for help.
