A STORM SURGE OF 2-3 FEET AGL AND WATER LEVEL RISES NEAR 2 FEET AGL
ON THE HALIFAX AND INDIAN RIVERS RESULTED IN SOME AREAS OF SHORELINE
FLOODING. TROPICAL STORM FORCE SUSTAINED WINDS AFFECTED THE BARRIER
ISLAND, WITH GUSTS TO TROPICAL STORM FORCE IN SQUALLS THROUGH MUCH
OF THE REMAINDER OF THE COUNTY. STRONG ONSHORE WINDS AND LARGE
SWELLS IMPACTED THE BEACHES OVER THREE HIGH TIDE CYCLES, RESULTING
IN MODERATE TO MAJOR BEACH EROSION. RAIN TOTALS ACROSS THE COUNTY
AVERAGED BETWEEN THREE AND FIVE INCHES. APPROXIMATELY 5000 RESIDENTS
LOST POWER FOR A SHORT PERIOD AND 1200 PEOPLE EVACUATED INTO
SHELTERS. PRELIMINARY DAMAGE ESTIMATES WERE $469,514, MAINLY
IMPACTING ORMOND BEACH, PORT ORANGE AND DAYTONA BEACH SHORES.

SYSTEM WERE BOTH NEAR 2 FEET AGL, EXCEPT 2-3 FEET AGL NORTH OF CAPE
CANAVERAL. TROPICAL STORM FORCE SUSTAINED WINDS AFFECTED THE BARRIER
ISLANDS, WITH GUSTS TO TROPICAL STORM FORCE IN SQUALLS THROUGH MUCH
OF THE REMAINDER OF THE COUNTY.STRONG ONSHORE WINDS AND LARGE SWELLS
IMPACTED THE BEACHES OVER THREE HIGH TIDE CYCLES, RESULTING IN
MODERATE TO MAJOR BEACH EROSION. RAIN TOTALS ACROSS THE COUNTY
AVERAGED BETWEEN TWO AND FOUR INCHES. THE ECONOMIC LOSS DUE TO BEACH
EROSION WAS ESTIMATED AT $15 MILLION DOLLARS AND DAMAGE TO
CROSSOVERS AND BEACH RAMPS WAS ESTIMATED BETWEEN $500,000 AND $1
MILLION DOLLARS. AN INDIRECT HURRICANE-RELATED FATALITY OCCURRED ON
SEPT 1 AROUND 410 PM EDT WHEN A 68 YEAR OLD MAN WHO WAS PUTTING
PLYWOOD ON THE WINDOWS OF HIS HOME, LOST HIS BALANCE UPON A LADDER
AND FELL THREE STORIES TO HIS DEATH.

STORM SURGE AND WATER LEVEL RISES WITHIN THE INDIAN RIVER LAGOON
SYSTEM WERE BOTH NEAR 2 FEET AGL. TROPICAL STORM FORCE SUSTAINED
WINDS AFFECTED THE BARRIER ISLAND, WITH GUSTS TO TROPICAL STORM FORCE
IN SQUALLS THROUGH MUCH OF THE REMAINDER OF THE COUNTY. STRONG
ONSHORE WINDS AND LARGE SWELLS IMPACTED THE BEACHES OVER TWO HIGH
TIDE CYCLES, RESULTING IN MODERATE TO MAJOR BEACH EROSION. THE
GREATEST BEACH EROSION OCCURRED IN THE VERO BEACH AREA, WITH DUNE
LOSSES UP TO 10 FEET. ACROSS THE COUNTY, 781 PEOPLE EVACUATED INTO
SHELTERS. RAIN TOTALS ACROSS THE COUNTY AVERAGED BETWEEN ONE AND
THREE INCHES. THE ECONOMIC LOSS DUE TO BEACH EROSION WAS ESTIMATED
AT $7.75 MILLION DOLLARS.

BEACHES OVER TWO HIGH TIDE CYCLES, RESULTING IN MODERATE TO MAJOR

BEACHES OVER TWO HIGH TIDE CYCLES, RESULTING IN MODERATE TO MAJOR

WHILE MOVING LUGGAGE AND WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD AT A LOCAL HOSPITAL.
AROUND 630 PM EDT, A 56-YEAR OLD MAN FELL FROM A TREE WHILE CUTTING
LIMBS PRIOR TO THE WEATHER EVENT.
