This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of central Upper
Michigan and western Upper Michigan.

.DAY ONE...Tonight

Northwest winds will gust to 40 to 50 mph across the Keweenaw late
this afternoon and evening and along the lakeshore east of Harvey
during this evening. See the latest Weather Message for additions

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday

Dangerously cold arctic air settles into the area this weekend
into early next week. Across interior western Upper Michigan, air
temperatures will be below zero from Saturday night through at
least Tuesday morning, and potentially until late Wednesday
morning. Into central Upper Michigan, the time period of
continuously subzero temperatures will be a little shorter. Monday
will be the coldest day. On that day, temperatures may not rise
above 10 below zero during the daylight hours over interior
western Upper Michigan. Wind chills of 15 below to 40 below zero,
coldest interior west, are expected late Saturday through at least
Tuesday morning.

In addition, lake effect snow will result in periods of whiteout
conditions in the northwest wind snow belts late Saturday through
Tuesday. After snow accumulations of 1 to 3 to locally 4 inches
on Saturday, snow accumulations will range from 1 to 3 to locally
4 inches per 12 hours from Saturday night through Tuesday. The
higher snow accumulations will occur in Alger and Luce counties.

before veering northwest 40 to 45 knots tonight into Saturday

Heavy freezing spray develops late tonight across most of Lake
Superior.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday

NW gales to 40 knots continue mainly across the east half of Lake
Superior Saturday afternoon and evening.

Heavy freezing spray is expected last Saturday through Tuesday.
