Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Missoula MT
404 AM MDT Fri Apr 23 2021
.DISCUSSION...Scattered showers continue to move through the
Northern Rockies this morning. These showers are mainly producing
light snow with higher elevation locations experience some snow
accumulations on paved surfaces. A winter weather advisory has
been issued for the Butte/Blackfoot region for this morning as
slick conditions will be present for this mornings commute. The
shower activity will be diminishing throughout the day as a weak
ridge of high pressure slides over the area.
The upper level flow will become southwesterly on Saturday
allowing a plume of moisture to stream into the region. The
Northern Rockies should be prepared for another round of
widespread precipitation. Snow should be mainly confined to the
higher terrain during the day on Saturday, but by Sunday morning
locations above 4500 feet could experience some light snow
accumulations.
Cool and showery conditions will persist into Monday. Temperatures
are expected to warm back to seasonal reading by Tuesday and
remain there for the remainder of the week. Uncertainty lies on
the potential of showers for the rest of the week.

.AVIATION...Scattered showers will continue to move through the
Northern Rockies this morning. KMSO and KBTM have the best chance
of being impacted by showers through 23/18z. KBTM will probably
have the greatest impact as snow should drop visibilities down IFR
conditions for a period of time this morning.
