Weather Summary for the Local Tri-State Region
National Weather Service New York NY
400 PM EDT Thu Mar 15 2018

There will be a chance for precipitation early tonight as a
disturbance moves through, mainly affecting southwest portions of
the tri-state, including New York City, and most of northesat New
Jersey and southwest Long Island. Precipitation will start off as
rain showers, but as the sun sets, a change over to snow showers
is expected. Only light accumulation of snow is expected, with a
up to a few tenths possible, especially on grassy areas. Dry
conditions return before midnight, with clouds decreasing
thereafter. Temperatures will run below normal, with lows ranging
from the middle 20s to the middle 30s.

High pressure over the western Great Lakes region builds into our
area for the end of the week and into the weekend, providing dry
conditions, despite the passage of a cold front Saturday.
Temperatures through the period will continue to be below normal.
Highs on Friday will only be in the 30s, except maybe around 40
in urban portions of New York City. Temperatures over the weekend
will be not quite as cool, but still below normal, with Sunday
being slightly cooler than Saturday.
