Weather Summary for the Local Tri-State Region
National Weather Service New York NY
400 PM EDT Wed Mar 21 2018

Snow, heavy at times, will continue across the region through
this evening and into tonight before tapering off from west to
east overnight but closer to daybreak for Eastern Long Island and
Southeast Connecticut. The highest snowfall totals are expected
across northeast New Jersey, New York City, and western Long
Island, where around a foot of snow is expected. Amounts will be
slightly lower to the north, ranging from around 5 inches across
far western Orange County to 8-12 inches across southern
Connecticut. The immediate south shore of Long Island will also
see lower totals where more mixing will occur.

Any lingering snow showers will exit the area to the east Thursday
morning as high pressure builds into the region. This will result
in a dry but chilly end to the work week, with highs on Thursday
and Friday in the low to mid 40s and lows in the mid 20s to lower
30s, several degrees below normal for this time of year.
