Present movement...N...355 degrees at 12 mph

DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK
----------------------
At 700 AM ChST...2100 UTC...the center of Tropical Storm Champi was
located near Latitude 19.0 degrees North and Longitude 140.1 degrees
East...moving north at 12 mph. Champi is expected to continue moving
on a general northward track and maintain this forward speed before
accelerating as it recurves east of Japan early next week.

Maximum sustained winds have decreased to 40 mph. Champi is still
forecast to gradually intensify through Saturday before a weakening
trend ensues.

Tropical storm force winds extend outward from the center up to
70 miles in the southeast quadrant and 35 to 60 miles elsewhere.
