When it comes to floods, it is never too early to prepare for floods.
There are several things that you and your family can do in preparation
in the case of an extreme flood weather event.

Prepare a family disaster plan. Know where in your home or neighborhood
that is safe to evacuate to in the case extreme flooding affects your home.

Check to see if your insurance covers flood damage and if not, talk with you
insurance agent about obtaining flood insurance.

Keep insurance, important documents and priceless and valuable items in a
waterproof safe deposit box.

Make an itemized list of personal property well in advance. Photograph or video
the interior and exterior of your home.

Assemble a disaster supplies kit.

Make a keep-in-touch arrangement with relatives and friends.
