...CORRECTIONS MADE TO ALBANY`S MIN AND MAX TEMPERATURES...

A technician with the National Weather Service in Tallahassee
was sent to the Albany, GA ASOS on Friday Mar 5th to look into a
possible problem with the temperature sensor. Albany`s
temperatures had been an outlier with observations of other
nearby reliable weather instruments since February 22nd. The
technician noted that the ASOS had a 2 degree warm bias and has
since fixed the problem. As a result of this known issue, the min
and max temps for Albany have been corrected down by 2 degrees
from Feb 22 - Mar 4.

The corrected climate products (CLIABY, CF6ABY, and CLMABY) can
already be accessed from the NWS Tallahassee website but it might
take some time to get the corrected data into xmACIS2 as there is
a process that has to be followed including opening a datzilla
ticket.

It is important to note that the corrected high temperatures for
both Feb 27th and 28th are now 86 degrees instead of 88 degrees.
The 86 degree reading on the 27th is still a record for the day
surpassing the most recent previous record of 85 degrees in 1962.
However, the max temp of 86 on the 28th now ties the previous
record of 86 in 1917.

We regret any inconvenience that this may have caused.
