...Lightning Safety Awareness Week is June 19-25, 2022...

In cooperation with the National Lightning Safety Council, this
week is National Lightning Safety Awareness Week.  This week is
designed to remind all of us what to do when thunder roars.

Each day will feature information on a specific type of
lightning hazardous. The week will proceed as follows...

-Today............Lightning Safety Outdoors
-Wednesday........Lightning Safety Indoors
-Thursday.........Lightning Safety and Sports
-Friday...........Medical Effects on Lightning Victims
.Saturday.........Protecting your home from lightning

Lightning is fascinating to watch, but also extremely dangerous.  It
kills or injures hundreds of people every year in the United States.
It is important to understand the dangers associated with this
weather phenomena and what you need to do to stay safe when
thunderstorms threaten.

...Lightning Safety Tip of the Day...
Monitor the weather conditions. Watch the sky for any
signs of a developing or approaching storm. Lightning can strike
over 10 miles from a developing thunderstorm, providing little
warning for those outdoors.
