LENOIR...NORTHWESTERN CRAVEN...SOUTHEASTERN PITT...WESTERN BEAUFORT AND NORTHEASTERN DUPLIN COUNTIES UNTIL 715 PM EDT... At 626 PM EDT, radar indicated strong thunderstorms were located along a line extending from Vanceboro to near Deep Run. The storms are nearly stationary. Winds in excess of 40 mph and pea size hail are possible with these storms. Locations impacted include... Kinston, Grifton, Phillips Crossroads, Kornegay, Deep Run, Vanceboro, Askins, Shelmerdine, Calico, Fort Barnwell, Jasper, Tuscarora, Potters Hill, Graingers, Pleasant Hill, Wilmar, Wyse Fork, Albertson, Ernul and Kinston Regional Jetport. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms, and may cause localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.
