THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE IN JANUARY 2019 WAS SLIGHTLY ABOVE NORMAL.
IT WAS THE WARMEST JANUARY SINCE 2017, WHEN THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE
WAS 39.0 DEGREES.

MONTHLY PRECIPITATION WAS 103 PERCENT OF NORMAL. IT WAS THE WETTEST
JANUARY SINCE 2016, WHEN 3.50 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION FELL.

MONTHLY SNOWFALL WAS 115 PERCENT OF NORMAL. IT WAS THE SNOWIEST
JANUARY SINCE 2016, WHEN 30.0 INCHES OF SNOW FELL.

A DAILY RECORD LOW MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE OF 21 DEGREES WAS SET ON
JANUARY 31ST. THIS BROKE THE OLD RECORD OF 22 DEGREES SET BACK IN
1948.

WEATHER RECORDS FOR THE BALTIMORE MD AREA HAVE BEEN RECORDED AT WHAT
IS NOW BALTIMORE-WASHINGTON INTERNATIONAL THURGOOD MARSHALL AIRPORT
SINCE 1950. THE OFFICIAL WEATHER RECORD CONSISTS OF THAT DATA BACK
TO 1950, AND OBSERVATIONS TAKEN IN DOWNTOWN BALTIMORE FROM 1871
THROUGH 1949. TEMPERATURE RECORDS FOR THE BALTIMORE MD AREA EXTEND
BACK TO JULY OF 1872. PRECIPITATION RECORDS EXTEND BACK TO JANUARY
OF 1871. SNOWFALL RECORDS BEGAN IN MARCH OF 1892.
