The National Weather Service in Springfield has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  South Central Texas County in south central Missouri...

* Until 1045 PM CDT.

* At 744 PM CDT, Trained weather spotters reported flooding in
  Houston at US Highway 63 and Thomasville Road. Between 1 and 4
  inches of rain have fallen. Flash flooding is already occurring.

  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

  SOURCE...Trained spotters reported.

  IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
           areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
           other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Houston, Solo, Simmons and Elk Creek.

This includes the following low water crossings...
  Big Piney River at Cleveland Road.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Many flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.
