Fire Weather Planning Forecast for East Tennessee...Southwest
Virginia...and Extreme Southwest North Carolina
National Weather Service Morristown TN
111 PM EST Sat Dec 13 2025

.DISCUSSION...

...LOW AFTERNOON RH AND GUSTY WINDS EXPECTED SUNDAY AFTERNOON...

Afternoon relatively humidities will fall to 40 percent of less
alongside gusty northerly winds Sunday afternoon. Low afternoon RH
will continue into the early week, however, winds will be lighter
as surface high pressure begins to have a greater influence over
the region.

A dry and mild day today before a strong cold front moves across the
Tennessee valley and southern Appalachians tonight. Arctic-like
airmass will surge into the region for Sunday and Monday. Very cold
wind chills are expected.

Snow showers and flurries will accompany this surge of cold
air with light accumulations expected across the mountains of
southwest Virginia and far east Tennessee tonight.
