Fire Weather Planning Forecast FOR S Cntrl and Sern Colorado
National Weather Service Pueblo Co
216 PM MDT Tue May 14 2024

.Discussion...

Critical fire weather is not expected for the next seven days. A
cold front is pushing across the plains today, which will keep
daytime highs cooler for our Wednesday, and will also increase
chances for showers and thunderstorms tomorrow as well, some of
which could be strong to severe. Main threats with storms tomorrow
will be excessive rainfall, localized flash flooding, strong winds,
and hail. Cooler temperatures and chances for showers and storms on
the plains will linger into Thursday. Snow chances will be limited
to elevations above 11,000ft for both tomorrow and Thursday, and new
snow accumulations are expected to be very light for most peaks,
though Pikes Peak could see a couple of inches of new snow Wednesday
night.

Our pattern warms and dries for Friday through Monday with daily
afternoon thunderstorm chances becoming more limited to areas over
and near the mountains. Depending on the progression of an
approaching weather system from our southwest, we could have a
period of dry and windy days early next week in the Monday to
Tuesday timeframe.

Though most zones will see at least "good" rates for afternoon smoke
dispersions, rates will vary greatly across the district on
Wednesday. Please see specific zone forecasts below for
more details. Rates will be mostly poor and fair on Thursday.

--- thunderstorms imply strong gusty and erratic winds ---
