.DISCUSSION...Mild and mainly dry conditions are expected today.
Some rain showers will be possible late this afternoon across far
western South Dakota. Winds will be out of the east to southeast
at 10 to 15 mph. A strong storm system will bring ample moisture
to the area tonight into Tuesday. Most locations will see wetting
rains, with several inches of snow across the northern Black
Hills area.

...HIGH FIRE DANGER...

The grassland fire danger index will reach the high category this
afternoon. Unfavorable weather conditions or a low moisture
content of grasses, and other dry organic material on the ground,
indicate that there is a moderate to high potential for a fire
occurrence. Outdoor burning should be restricted to early morning
or evening hours when wind speeds are usually lower and the
relative humidity is higher.

The outlook for Tuesday afternoon, The grassland fire danger
index will reach the moderate category.
