A developing front currently located over the central Aleutian
Islands will cross the Gulf of Alaska on Sunday and continue
east. A cold low level airmass currently in place over Southeast
Alaska will produce a classic overrunning snow event on Monday.
A protracted snow event is expected with a transition to rain not
occurring until Tuesday in some locations. 24 hour storm total
snow amounts are currently forecast to range from around 2 inches
to as much as 6 inches. Forecast snow amounts and timing will be
refined in later forecasts, so residents and other persons
potentially affected by this late season event are encouraged to
keep updated on this situation.
