FEBRUARY CONTINUED THE WINTER TREND OF PERSISTENT MILD TEMPERATURES
BRIEFLY BROKEN UP BY SHORT PERIODS OF ARCTIC COLD. THE FIRST WEEK OF
FEBRUARY WAS A MILD ONE, BUT SNOW, SLEET, AND FREEZING RAIN FELL ON
THE 6TH AND 7TH. ARCTIC COLD POURED IN BEHIND THIS STORM SYSTEM WITH
THE TEMPERATURE BOTTOMING OUT AT 3 BELOW ZERO ON THE 9TH. WARMER
WEATHER RETURNED THE VERY NEXT DAY. MORE SNOW FELL ON THE 13TH
FOLLOWED BY ARCTIC COLD JUST IN TIME FOR VALENTINE`S DAY. THE
COLDEST TEMPERATURE WAS 9 BELOW ZERO ON THE MORNING OF THE 15TH. THE
VERY NEXT DAY THE TEMPERATURE SOARED INTO THE UPPER 30S. MORE LIGHT
SNOW CAME FOLLOWED BY ANOTHER BRIEF SHOT OF COLD WITH THE
TEMPERATURE BOTTOMING OUT AT 5 BELOW ON THE 21ST. THIS WAS THE LAST
OF THE COLD DAYS WITH MUCH OF THE REST OF THE MONTH SPENT WARMER
THAN NORMAL. THE WARMEST TEMPERATURE WAS 52 DEGREES ON THE 24TH.
MORE THAN THREE QUARTERS OF AN INCH OF RAIN FELL ON THE 27TH AS THE
MILD WEATHER CONTINUED.

THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE FOR THE MONTH WAS 25.6 DEGREES WHICH WAS 2.4
DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL. THE WARMEST FEBRUARY WAS IN 1981 WHEN THE
AVERAGE TEMPERATURE WAS 33.2 DEGREES. THE COLDEST WAS ONLY 10.2
DEGREES IN 2015.

A TOTAL OF 2.69 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION FELL WHICH WAS 0.14 INCHES
BELOW NORMAL. THE HEAVIEST CAME ON THE 27TH WHEN 0.76 INCHES OF RAIN
FELL. THE DRIEST FEBRUARY WAS IN 1987 WHEN ONLY 0.32 INCHES WAS
RECORDED. THE WETTEST WAS IN 1970 WITH 6.03 INCHES.

NO DAILY RECORDS WERE SET OR TIED IN FEBRUARY 2020.
