MARCH CONTINUED THE WINTER TREND OF MILD WEATHER PUNCTUATED BY BRIEF
PERIODS OF COOLER CONDITIONS. MUCH OF THE FIRST HALF OF THE MONTH
WAS WARMER THAN NORMAL, OFTEN SIGNIFICANTLY SO. THE WARMEST
TEMPERATURE WAS 71 DEGREES ON THE 9TH. THE LAST OF THE WINTER SNOW
COVER WAS GONE BY THE MORNING OF THE 11TH. THERE WERE A FEW COOLER
DAYS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE MONTH ALONG WITH SOME RAIN AND SNOW. A
LATE SEASON WINTER STORM DROPPED 7 INCHES OF SNOW ON THE 23RD AND
24TH, BUT THE LATE MARCH SUN AND MILD WEATHER MEANT THAT THIS SNOW
DID NOT STICK AROUND LONG.

THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE FOR THE MONTH WAS 37.8 DEGREES WHICH WAS 4.7
DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL AND THE WARMEST SINCE 2016. THE WARMEST MARCH
WAS IN 2012 WHEN THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE WAS 42.1 DEGREES. THE
COOLEST WAS IN 1885 AT 23.5 DEGREES.

A TOTAL OF 2.62 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION FELL WHICH WAS 0.65 INCHES
DRIER THAN NORMAL. THE HEAVIEST PRECIPITATION WAS ON THE 23RD AND
24TH WHEN 0.78 INCHES OF RAIN AND MELTED SNOW FELL. THE WETTEST
MARCH WAS IN 1936 WHEN 9.80 INCHES WAS MEASURED. THE DRIEST WAS IN
1915 WHEN ONLY A TRACE OF PRECIPITATION WAS RECORDED.

A TOTAL OF 7.6 INCHES OF SNOW FELL WHICH WAS 3.5 INCHES BELOW NORMAL
AND THE LEAST SNOWY SINCE 2016. THE HEAVIEST SNOW FELL ON THE 23RD
AND 24TH WHEN 7.0 INCHES WAS RECORDED. THE SNOWIEST MARCH WAS IN
1956 WHEN 38.3 INCHES FELL. NO SNOW FELL IN MARCH 1921. AN
ADDITIONAL 3 YEARS RECORDED ONLY A TRACE OF SNOW IN MARCH, MOST
RECENTLY IN 2010.
