...STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WILL IMPACT CHESTER...YORK AND NORTHEASTERN
UNION COUNTIES THROUGH 330 AM EDT...
At 241 AM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from 7 miles north of Rock Hill to 8 miles northwest
of Chester to 4 miles south of Union. Movement was southeast at 30
mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects.
Locations impacted include...
Rock Hill, Union, York, Chester, Fort Mill, Tega Cay, Newport,
Lesslie, Monarch Mill, and Buffalo.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 400 AM EDT for Upstate South
Carolina.
