Scattered to numerous thunderstorms impacted mainly the eastern two-
thirds of Kansas overnight, as a strong storm system approached from
the west. Isolated instances of severe weather occurred, along with
pockets of heavy rain. Stout and gusty south winds continued
overnight, with gusts exceeding 40 mph at times. Predawn
temperatures ranged from the low 70s over eastern Kansas, to 50s
over western Kansas.

Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms will exit eastward
early this morning, impacting mainly Nebraska, Iowa, and Missouri
today. Severe thunderstorms are possible over mainly Iowa and
Missouri. Across Kansas, strong west to southwest winds will
prevail, as deep low pressure skirts to the northeast. Gusts
exceeding 40 to 60 mph are likely, strongest over northwest Kansas.
Wind advisories and high wind warnings have been posted. The strong
winds will also fuel elevated grassfire danger over generally the
western half of Kansas. Forecast high temperatures are in the 70s
and 80s, although cooler 60s will encompass northwest Kansas.

Winds will gradually decrease this evening and overnight, with
forecast low temperatures ranging from the 30s to the 50s, coolest
over western Kansas.
