Make plans now to attend the Central Indiana Severe Weather Symposium on Saturday, October 19th to take your severe weather knowledge to new heights. This will be an excellent opportunity for weather spotters, chasers, and anyone with more than a passing interest in the weather to learn more. Those who have been through the basic weather spotter training, held in many counties around the state each spring, will now have a chance to progress to advanced training and learn more about the science behind severe thunderstorms. Join us as we take a unique look back at the April 1974 tornado superoutbreak, case studies of recent Indiana severe weather outbreaks, Ball State University research and student poster session, storm surveying, and the future of forecasting. The symposium will be held from 8 AM to 4:30 PM EDT at Ball State University`s Pruis Hall, brought to you by the Indiana Chapter of the American Meteorological Society, Ball State University Department of Geography and Meteorology, with special help from National Weather Service Indianapolis. The symposium only comes once every two years and there is a fee to attend that helps cover costs and goes toward student scholarships. Go to the AMS chapter`s symposium website today to learn more and register at tinyurl.com/cisws2024 . Don`t miss out! Please help advertise this event and spread the word. We hope to see you there! $$
