Subject: Non-Weather Emergency Message Test in support of Sonoma County 12 PM PDT
April 29, 2022.

The National Weather Service Forecast Office serving the San Francisco Bay Area and
Monterey Bay Regions, in coordination with the County of Sonoma Department of Emergency
Management, will conduct a test of the NOAA Weather Radio system on Friday April 29th
at or about noon Pacific Daylight Time.

This test of the NOAA Weather Radio system is intended to test transmission from the
County of Sonoma to the National Weather Service office in Monterey California, and back
to NOAA Weather Radios throughout Sonoma County. The signal that will be used is the Civil
Emergency Message coding, and is expected to alarm on NOAA Weather Radios as such.

We have informed our local primary broadcast partners responsible for relaying signals to
the Emergency Alert System in the San Francisco Bay Area and have requested this test not be
broadcast over the Emergency Alert System. In the rare case this does make it to the
Emergency Alert System, this Civil Emergency Message should be treated as only a test.

The test will occur at or around noon Pacific Daylight Time Friday April 29th. If a
significant local, regional, or national event occurs, this test will be postponed until
another agreed upon date can be selected.
