A strong cold front will  approach from the west tonight, crossing the area early Sunday. Cold  high pressure then dominates the region for most of next week.    $$
   AMZ158-182215-  S of Cape Lookout to N of Surf City NC out 20 nm-  945 AM EST Sat Jan 18 2020    GALE WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM EST THIS EVENING THROUGH SUNDAY  MORNING    REST OF TODAY  E winds around 10 kt, becoming SE 15 to 20 kt with  gusts up to 30 kt late. Seas 2 to 4 ft. Dominant period 11 seconds.  Adjacent sounds and rivers light chop, increasing to choppy late. A  slight chance of showers.  TONIGHT  SW winds 20 to 25 kt, increasing to 25 to 35 kt after  midnight. Seas 5 to 7 ft, building to 6 to 9 ft after midnight. Near  shore, seas 3 to 5 ft, building to 5 to 7 ft after midnight. Dominant  period 6 seconds. Adjacent sounds and rivers rough, increasing to  very rough after midnight. A chance of showers.  SUN  W winds 20 to 25 kt, becoming NW 15 to 20 kt in the  afternoon. Gusts up to 35 kt in the morning. Seas 5 to 8 ft, except  5 to 7 ft near shore. Dominant period 7 seconds. Adjacent sounds and  rivers rough, diminishing to choppy in the afternoon. A slight chance  of showers.  SUN NIGHT  NW winds 15 to 20 kt. Seas 4 to 6 ft. Dominant period  8 seconds. Adjacent sounds and rivers choppy.  MON  N winds 15 to 20 kt, diminishing to 10 to 15 kt in the  afternoon. Seas 3 to 5 ft. Adjacent sounds and rivers choppy,  diminishing to a moderate chop in the afternoon.  MON NIGHT  N winds 10 to 15 kt, increasing to 15 to 20 kt after  midnight. Seas 2 to 4 ft. Adjacent sounds and rivers a moderate  chop, increasing to choppy after midnight.  TUE  N winds 15 to 20 kt. Seas 3 to 5 ft.
