Through 430 am, scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms spread
across the Florida Straits and Hawk Channel south of the Middle and
Upper Keys, Florida Bay, and the Gulfside nearshore and outer waters
north of the island chain will continue to move northwest at 10 to
15 knots as they wax and wane. Some of these showers may cross the
Middle and Upper Keys while producing wind gusts up to 25 miles per
hour and rainfall accumulations up to a quarter inch. Additional
showers and potential thunderstorms over the outer Gulf, including
the Dry Tortugas, will also move generally northwest at 10 to 15
knots. Mariners encountering the strongest of this activity can
expect moderate to blinding downpours limiting visibility, wind gusts
to near 25 knots, and brief bouts of lightning.
